– According to a new research on premature infants led by scientists at Harvard Medical School, a mother’s voice has a direct effect on the language skills development of her fetus. Hearing sounds – like words and music – is one of the first sensory experiences of a human being in the womb.
– The Harvard study showed that the maternal voice has an influence on the growth of the auditory cortex and brain size. This may be an excellent reason for mothers to speak and sing to their unborn babies as early as possible. This may help the little ones to get better language skills… before their first day!
