– A Brigham Young University study indicates that cognitive development is accelerated by reading to infants and by heeding to their emotional cues – things breastfeeding mothers often do.
– The study discovered that paying mind to a child’s emotional cues and reading to a child daily creates a 2-3 month advantage in brain development by age 4, as measured by math and reading readiness testing checks upon entrance to preschool and are important gauges of readiness for math and reading.
